"Elefante" is my latest generative algorithm that builds on my previous work and pushes it to incorporate multiple remixed canvases and photographic element. Using a single photograph of a giant Yucca (latin name - Yucca elephantipes) as a starting point, the project blends elements of brutalism, concrete art, and collage to create abstract displays of forms, textures, and colours. I wanted the pieces to ‘scan’ well from a distance or at smaller sizes (ie online), but also contain a larger amount of detail than some of my previous work when viewed up close. I wanted texture without skeuomorphism.
